Post-Animefest! Sep. 9th Update

This year I was privileged to attend Animefest in Dallas, Texas. The experiences I had there will forever stay with me and I owe so much gratitude to Susan and Daniel of the Masquerading Miscreants and the local cosplayers, James, Quyen and Thu for helping me to reach it, along with showing me such tear-jerking hospitality. I'll see Atlanta again at AWA, until then - my plate is getting a tad full. The people I met in Dallas were nothing but sweet and welcoming (save perhaps choice few of the hotel staff who are in no way affiliated with the convention itself - cest la vie'). While there, I participated (albeit briefly) in my friend's comedy skit for the contest on Sunday for which we received no reward except the privilege of competing alongside such talented thespians.

And Dancers. Congratulations and a huge special mention to OurLadyeOfParis and Illa Scriptor of Saucy Noodle Cosplay. Deathnote had been nearly ruined for me by all the cutesy hype surrounding and cluttering such a dark and tragic story...but when I saw their dance I was moved to tears. No video will ever do it justice and I am so grateful to have been there and close enough to the front to have seen it perfectly with eyes afraid to blink. I didn't breathe, neither did those around me and I'll never forget the shocked silence of the crowd as MisaMisa slowly trudged off stage. Beautiful dance to remind people of the roots - the r e a l story behind all the noise of fanfiction and bad roleplaying. Illa, Ladye - thank you for taking the time to talk with me as long as you did and congratulations. You fully deserved all the praise and notoriety (and more). I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors and am proud to present the youtube rendition of what I saw in person. Again, while enchanting, it holds no candle to the real spectacle. Enjoy. ^-^

Thank you for your interest and always remember: Cosplay is a hobby. Hobbies are fun. Don't let competition, elitism, or stress rule you and ruin your fun. Cosplay ish srz biznis.
